The Great Riverside Bake Off & Riverside’s Got Talent
Riverside School council organised two fundraising events The Great Riverside Bake-Off and Riverside’s Got Talent which were held on Thursday 10 April in the school hall. Children and adults were asked to join in the Bake-off bringing their baking to school in the morning to be judged by our 3 guest judges who were, Paul Clayton, the school Site Manager, Susan Thorpe, a school Governor and Gemma the owner of Something Sweet. The entries were all of a fantastic standard and the judges were hard pressed to choose the winners. The eventual winners were: Year 3 – Tom Mynott, Year 4 – Aaron Baylin, Year 5 Molly Jackson-Hill, Year 6 – Riley Nixon and Adult Winnder Linda Lund.
The Talent Show took place in the evening was incredibly well supported by pupils, ex pupils, parents and friends of the school, to such an extent that there was standing room only in the school hall. The children had previously auditioned in their classes for 2 acts to be put through to the Talent Show final on the night. The acts ranged from Cornet playing, dancing, singing, magic tricks to a whole class performance from Sun 6 of Greased Lightening from the musical Grease. The overall winner was Sadie Short who did a dance routine to Call Me Maybe. All the children performed brilliantly and were a credit to themselves and the school.
The total amount raised by the school council for both these events was an amazing £345.
A big thank you from the School Council to everyone who supported these events.
