An inspiring school in a beautiful setting…

Riverside has been serving the families and community of Hebden Bridge for more than one hundred years. It began its life in 1909 as a United District Secondary School and became Riverside Junior School in 1964.

 Recently Riverside has joined Central Street Infants and Stubbings Infants to form the Hebden Bridge Schools Federation – a family of 3 schools who work closely together to serve our local community.

 Our school is in a really special place – at the heart of the small, vibrant town of Hebden Bridge, yet surrounded by the beautiful South Pennine hills and within walking distance of the National Trust owned Hardcastle Crags. We have a strong vision, underpinned by the five main characteristics which form the basis of our whole curriculum.

 The outdoor environment at school is just as important for good learning as classrooms.  Our highly trained play leaders provide a variety of activities and we also have a Trimtrail, activity area, 'quiet' garden, football and netball pitches plus a multi-purpose covered area. 

 We make every effort to ensure that each child feels happy and secure in school and has a sense of being cared for and valued for who they are.
